Types of Ponds
March 12, 2012 · admin · Atlanta, Ponds · 0 CommentsThere are many types of ponds which can be made for Atlanta homeowners and businesses. The features these ponds include vary by your personal preference, yard size, natural landscape, and budget. Here are some details about each type of pond.
Starter Ponds
Smaller started ponds are generally preformed ponds which may be in-ground or above ground. They can have a small water feature such as a water fountain, but may not be suitable for fish because of their size.
Water Gardens or Ornamental Ponds
Water gardens are quite popular, the ponds can have plants, fish (not koi), water features such as a small waterfall, a fountain and lighting.
Fish Ponds
Fish ponds are specifically made for holding fish. They are generally larger than a water garden and good for a variety of fish. Fish ponds always feature plants, and stones, and can have waterfalls, fountains and lights.
Koi Ponds
The koi fish have more needs than most fish in fish ponds. While they can have nearly any water feature the maintenance is typically higher for a koi pond. The koi fish can grow quite large and often will need more space.
Wildlife Ponds
Wildlife ponds are made to keep aquatic life such as fish, frogs, turtles, tadpoles etc. These ponds need to be maintained as much as Koi ponds. As they’ll have wildlife going in and out of the water the maintenance is quite important.
